Cretan Honey Experience

Discover the fascinating world of Cretan honey through an authentic village experience near Agios Nikolaos. This family-friendly hiking activity takes place in the traditional village of Kastelli, where nature, local traditions and rural life come together.

The experience begins with an easy 5 km walk along gentle countryside trails beneath the village’s archaeological site, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Along the way, you will learn about the plants, herbs and natural environment that shape the unique character of Cretan honey.

During the walk we meet Andreas, our local beekeeper, who introduces guests to the traditional art of beekeeping. Wearing protective beekeeping suits, we approach the hives and carefully open a beehive to observe the honeycomb and the incredible organization of the bee colony. Guests discover how bees produce honey, how the hive functions and why bees play such an essential role in nature.

The experience concludes at a traditional village café in Kastelli, where guests relax and enjoy a complimentary local treat offered by NatureSoul Adventures. It’s a simple and authentic moment of Cretan hospitality — a chance to taste local flavors and experience everyday village life just minutes from Agios Nikolaos, Crete.
